Schoorvoetend maakt de androïde robot zijn entree in de publieke en private ruimte. Door de snelle ontwikkelingen in de robotica roepen ze talloze vragen op. Kunnen robots een bedreiging vormen voor de werkgelegenheid? Krijgen robots ooit bewustzijn, emoties, een vrije wil? Hoe weet je of je met een bewuste robot van doen hebt of slechts met gesimuleerde emoties en wilsbesluiten? Is vriendschap met een robot mogelijk? En seks ermee hebben, is dat verwerpelijk? En waarin verschillen wij eigenlijk van robots?

Liesbeth Noordegraaf-Eelens is filosoof en econoom en verbonden aan de Erasmus Universiteit in Rotterdam. Noordegraaf-Eelens onderzoekt (economische) thema's als verantwoordelijkheid, onzekerheid, vertrouwen, risico’s, waarde en communicatie.
Jos de Mul is hoogleraar wijsgerige antropologie en hoofd van de leerstoelgroep filosofie van mens en cultuur aan de Erasmus Universiteit in Rotterdam. Zijn onderzoek richt zich onder andere op de filosofische antropologie en de filosofie van informatie en communicatietechnologieën.
Willem Frijhoff is emeritus hoogleraar geschiedenis van de nieuwe tijd aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam en bijzonder hoogleraar aan de Erasmus Universiteit in Rotterdam. Het onderzoek van Frijhoff is onder andere gericht op historische processen van cultuuroverdracht en het collectief geheugen.

Philosopher Prof. Dr. Jos de Mul – author of countless articles and books like 'Cyberspace Odyssey', 'Domestication of Fate' and 'Database Delirium' – was a speaker at the Biggest Visual Power Show 2005 in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Inspired by the images of Basia Knobloch and music of Lauri Anderson, professor De Mul decided to sing his lecture.
For someone who only has a hammer, everything appears to be a nail. For those who have computers, the world becomes a huge database.
The Biggest Visual Power Show – NextNature - is an intellectual spectacle blending a conference and a pop concert. BVPS mixes movies and live performance, morphs physical experiences into virtual imagination. The 2005 edition of the Biggest Visual Power Show was held in poptemple Paradiso, Amsterdam. Over twenty artists, scientist, writers, filmdirectors, architects, designers, presented their radical ideas, visionary statements and powerful imagery on how we can design, build and live in Next Nature.

Jos de Mul studied philosophy, art history and social sciences at the universities of Amsterdam, Utrecht and Nijmegen (The Netherlands). At present he is full professor Philosophy of Man and Culture at the Faculty of Philosophy, Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has also taught at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, 2007-2008), Fudan University (Shanghai, 2008), and Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto, 2016). In 2012 he became a visiting fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, USA. From 2005 to 2011 he was Vice-President of the Helmuth Plessner Gesellschaft, and from 2007 to 2010 President of the International Association for Aesthetics.
